2A Bug List
Bug list
- walking down 11 flights of stairs during the fire drill, and people that live on the lower floors taking the elevator.
People that live on the bottom floors could easily walk to the floors, and it causes crowding and the elevator breaks down with excessive use very easily.
- Finding a seat at the library for proctorU room.
Thousands of students at the University of florida take online classes and a lot of people do advance booking for the room, which then leaves a lot of people without a spot to take their tests. People talk about the dead zones in their dorms for wireless connection, that disrupts their tests.
- My bed being so close to my roomate in the dorm.
Some people complain about privacy and differences that they prefer. Some of these differences is having a fan near the bed and the other roommate not liking cold air.
- Having to use the restroom in the common area because my roommate takes long showers.
It is a problem because we have four people in the dorm, and sometimes our schedules run around the same time. So it will sometimes make us late if one of the roomates takes a long length of time. I think that roomates need to be more considerate.
- Having dead zones for my wifi on my phone.
When my laptop is dead and I don’t have data for my phone wifi is the way I communicate. So it becomes a problem when the wifi is always losing connection.
- That there is not turning section for scooter and motorcycles where we have to park by the library on University road. The parking place was made for scooters, but they only made the turning lane for left turns not right.
It is very dangerous for scooter and motorcycles to take the risk because scooter and motorcyclist could get seriously injured if they turn at the wrong moment.
- That scooters gas input hole is very small.
When you pump gas at a gas station the gas sometimes pumps very fast, and it splashes everywhere. Gas going everywhere can be very dangerous because it can catch fire.
- That the turning signals by the University of Florida are always flashing yellow as a yield so we might don’t get the chance to turn.
This problem causes back up traffic on the roads, and makes people impatient and that can cause them to make decisions that can cause accidents that endanger others.
- Certain places to live on campus are closed for the summer making it difficult to renew a lease that is in a budget range.
Students have set budgets when they come to college and moving can be difficult. When dorms are closed down for the summer term it makes people have to move into spaces like Infinity Hall that is overpriced.
- .people sticking their gum on the bottom of the table, instead of throwing it away.
This is a health issue and also makes the school go into the budget to replace resources such as the tables. When people stick their gum places it makes a custodians have to clean more, and also students stay away from unclean places so it causes many problems.
- People throwing their small paper trash on the floor instead of getting up to throw it away.
This is a problem because facilities will have to clean more and when they throw their trash outside instead of in the trashcan it’s polluting things such as ponds.
- People taking up more than one seat on the public transport bus
Some people are not able to stand, and it makes it even more difficult when they’re standing on a moving bus. So taking spaces that people can use is a transportation problem that a lot of people encounter.
- Not being able to clean inside of water bottles with small openings.
This has become a problem for everyone with reusable bottles they have to make sure that the bottle is thoroughly cleaned and sometimes think that it's clean, but it still has other things inside.
- Having to sit my backpack on the floor during studying and class time.
The floor is very dirty and it becomes a problem of sitting our backpacks on the ground. This problem affects everyone with light colored backpacks.
- Using the school restroom and students hurting my hand because they can’t see who's on the outside of the door at Turlington.
This problem is dangerous because instead of using a door that opens inward they picked a door that pushes outward and when students are reaching for the handle other students are pushing the door onto their hands.
- People losing their children in the malls and big department stores, which leaves children vulnerable to kidnapping.
Children wander off in big department stores and a lot of the times parents don’t notice. Strangers make that an easy target to take the children and that becomes a safety issue.
- Trying to get my scooter out of a parking spot because other people parked their scooter too close.
I have talked to many students including myself with how hard it is sometimes to get the scooter out of the parking spot because people are not considerate of how you get your scooter out or how they parked. The problem is people with scooters not caring about how their parking.
- Bluetooth earbuds falling out of the ears when working out.
When you're working out at the gym your skin can become moist and the earbuds will not longer have a good grip. So you constantly have to dry off your ears to make them stay. This causes a disruption to the workout.
- Having only two elevators to carry up belongings during move-in time for the on campus housing for Beaty.
We can only really have two elevators because of the structure of the building and how the floor plans are set-up.
- People not donating or getting rid of the clothing they do not wear and taking up unnecessary space in the dorms.
This is a problem because they don’t have clothes drives or a storage for unwanted clothes to donate. As a college student we have to find time in our schedule to sort through the clothes, storage them and then take them to a place such as GoodWill.
Reflection:
The process of choosing problems was easy in the first half of the list because they were mostly my problems that I was noticing. When I got to the second half of the list it got harder. A lot of the problems that I thought were problems were big scale and would have to be reconstructed if they were to be fixed. Another thing that I noticed was that some of the problems could be talked through with my roommates. So communication was key when solving those problems. It was difficult for me because a lot of the problems interconnected with one another, and I couldn't make them seperate problems. One other big detail that I noticed was when, I wrote the reasons why it was a problem it became the more detailed problem that I was actually facing.
ReplyDeleteKyra,
I think you did a good job on your bug list. I think you gave good “bugs” and reasons why they exist. I can definitely relate to your bug 14. I can arrive 10 minutes early to some classes and there are no open seats and I end up sitting on my backpack on the floor. I agree that communication is key to some solutions. Good job.
