Beginning of your Journey

Recalling the Highs and Lows

I would say the fun times I had was making my blog look nice and making my elevator pitch for the first time. The pitch was stressful to make, but I discovered that with practice it's going to get better and I can track my growth. I was proud of myself for going through with it, and not skipping the assignment because I was not comfortable on camera.

My low times in the course had to be the endless interviews. I know that we had to do multiple interviews to get a grasp on what customers wanted or if the problem actually existed, but some answers started to get repetitive. Maybe, I could have changed the wording of the questions to make them more interesting.

I think another hard part of the course was reaching out to recourse companies during the "Growing your Social Capital" assignment, and talking to professionals because I felt that I needed more expertise when speaking to them about the product. On the other hand, it turned out to be a good experience overall because I gained connections.

Comments From my Peers:

I also really appreciated the commentary that gave specific details on what I needed to change, add or take out completely. A lot of you were honest, and I didn't receive anything negative that I couldn't contribute to my growth.

Hi Kyra,

I really like your solution. I have noticed the trash people leave behind on the tables and desks when I go in. I guess I did not realize that this was such a big problem the custodians are having to spend more time on that rather than other things. I think cans connected to the tables is a good idea. I would definitely incentivize more students to throw away their trash since it would provide more convenience.   - A.S. (Solving the Problem)

Hey Kyra,
I found the way your approached the topic to be very interesting. I liked how you approached it from outside of a classroom setting. Many times people do not consider the possibility of failure when something is not graded or timed but that's not always true. I find it interesting as well how you say your doubt contributes to your failures because many times the reason we fail is more psychological than physiological.- C.R. (Celebrating Failure)

Hello Kyra,

Great job with this post. You provided a fantastic level of detail. One thing I found particularly interesting was the comment your second interviewee made about bus safety. I have never seen jaywalking as frequently anywhere else as I have in Gainesville. That may be another good opportunity to pursue. My only feedback, if any, would be to insure there are not any grammar errors in your post. You missed some capitalizations and spaces. A.T.( What's Next?)

The mindset of an Entrepreneur

Image result for entrepreneur
Although, I am developing the skills and learning what it takes, their is still a substantial amount of information for me to learn. In the world of innovation and learning what it takes to build a business, I have learned that it is more to just coming up with a product, and hoping people will buy it, but also knowing your customer. I would say I am on my way to becoming an entrepreneur.

To Future Students

I would say to future students, don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new because comfort kills curiosity. I was not planning on pursuing this business venture, but it fulfilled my passion to help others in need. To pass the class you have to do the work. Simple. To foster the mindset you have to engage into the process by doing something you like. Spend time figuring out what business venture you want to pursue.

Thank you, and it wouldn't be the same without one last                                                             Gif.     Image result for peace gif

  1. Hey Kyra,
I liked how you pointed out that the interviews start to get repetitive, that was something that I noticed as well and would always try to get the interviewee to give full answers. I also liked the way you took all of the criticisms and worked off them, many times people find it difficult to not be at least a little offended when they are recommended changes.

  2. Kyra,

Many of our peers had some mixed feelings about the interviews, but the majority including myself learned a lot from them. I liked your advice to future students because I that is the exact advice I needed in order to succeed in this class. Allowing the criticism and boundaries overwhelm you keeps you from performing your best and all students should have this mindset.
