Idea Napkin No. 1
1) Who you are.
Besides being a student at the University I am a caregiver. I have been a caregiver since freshman year in high school. When I came to college I thought that becoming a doctor was the only way I could truly help my community, but I found that helping people could be done through simply helping them with their problems. That is why my business plan that is targeted towards helping our staff on campus by lifting the burden of their workload is something I want to pursue. I feel that this business plan is something that could also help custodians, but raise awareness in the student community about how their cooperation does count to the success of our school.
2) What are you offering to customers?
Students sometimes disregard how much of an impact they make on campus. When they go to the public libraries they have to be mindful of the mess they leave behind for other students and custodians. The students bring all kinds of foods and drinks into the library, but when they forget the trash behind that becomes a problem. Putting a waste inside of the table to make it easier for students to throw their trash away as soon as they're done, and the custodian making a easy route to collect the trash. So it’s offering them a cleaner and friendlier environment for students to study.
3) Who are you offering it to?
The plan is to cut down the time that custodians use to cleaning up trash left behind by students. When the custodians can make a route to pick up the trash around the libraries it leaves time for the custodians to actually clean the places of the library more often, such as the restrooms or in places they can even get to sometimes, such as between the book cases. The students will have a cleaner library that they would actually not mind using the restrooms in. This is offered to the staff in the library such as the custodians and students that use the library to study. This can also attract students that don’t want to use the library for studying.
4) Why do they care?
They should care about my product becuase it is targeted to make their studying a lot less painful and custodians becuase they’re the ones having the problem. The chain reaction of students not cleaning their mess relates to the uncleanliness of the restrooms in the library. Another reason my customer should care is becuase of the uncleanliness they have started limiting the foods students can bring into the library. So this product may ease the rule about the certain foods that students can bring.

Hey Kyra,
ReplyDeleteI like the concept of your idea, the only problem I have is that I don't understand the product/service. Are you planning on selling tables with a trashcan in the center? Or is this a service that helps optimize the routes of the custodians? Additionally, a question I have is: wouldn't it be more work for a custodian to have to go to every single table and take out the trash can instead of going to a couple designated locations. Besides that, your demographic is well defined, and the issue does need addressing.
