I always wondered why the restrooms in Library West are not cleaned as often as they should be. when I did some more research I found out that the restrooms are getting cleaned, but the problem was not enough time was available for cleaning them. The custodians in library West work strenuously to keep up with the consistent flow of students that come in and out of the library. This means that many people are utilizing the restrooms, but it additionally gives me a better perspective on the “why?” time is being taken away from the most prioritized areas to clean. When I verbalized with the custodians I realized that most of their time is being taken by cleaning up trash that students leave behind in areas.

This lead me to the solution of trash cans can be connected to the tables so the custodians can have a concrete route to pick up the trash. I delved into why? the students felt like the trash was not being discarded but, instead, left in areas where other students study. By having the trash connected to the table it can eventually develop into trash can being installed within the table, and this makes it easy for the average student who do not throw out their trash. This opportunity would be useful to the library committee because they always want to have a sanitary environment for students, but also make the people that have to work their happy.
