You: Who am I?
I thought of myself as a nurturer, and someone who takes care of others. I notice in my plan that I am a person that looks to help the under dog. Not saying that custodians are less important, but sometimes we take the help we get for granted, and sometimes we don't even notice that we do. So when I thought I came to college to become a doctor, I quickly found out that becoming a doctor was an idealism of helping people, and that I can help people in multiple ways.
What am I offering to my customers?
In this answer I sidestepped what I was actually offering my customers. Overall, I am offering what every student wants, and that is a cleaner environment to study in. I am also offering them awareness of what is happening with the workloads of custodians. They may not notice how much their input on cleaning behind themselves helps them and their fellow students. I also noticed how little they knew about the custodians and their work. The more information they knew about how custodians work to keep the library clean, the more obligated they felt to clean. Another thing that I noticed was how little I talked about the actual product. It made the product seem less helpful and useless. I have to make sure that I am fully disclosing the product, and how it's supposed to help.
Who are you offering it to?
I was direct about this question. I am clearly doing it for the custodians because they are burdened with cleaning behind hundreds of students each day, and the product benefits both custodians and students. I also shed light on the places in the library that needs to be cleaned. A lot of the library that we expect to be clean is not clean all the time.
Why should the customers care?
I focused a lot on the students for this question because they are the customers that I want to peak interest in. They are apart of my problem and solution like my custodians are apart of my problem and solution. So I focused on how it will negatively affect the students because customers seem more motivated by something when it negatively affects them. Another tactic that I focused on was how they can positively benefit from this, and how it will make their lives easier.
I feel like each of these aspects fit together because they are all tailored to the business plan, and my feeling towards helping others is why I am pursuing it. Helping people is why I am trying to bring awareness to things that are not being talked about. I am trying to offer a simple solution to a big problem, and trying to make the problem of custodians having a big workload.
